This policy describes how the personal data of users who use BabelTalkie is processed. BabelTalkie is an AI-based voice interpretation and translation web application, accessible at app.babeltalkie.com. Processing is carried out in compliance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and applicable law.

1. Data controller

The controller of personal data is Dolidas MB, based in Lithuania. For any request regarding the processing of your data, you can write to info@babeltalkie.com.

2. Data we collect

In the course of providing the service, we may process the following categories of personal data:

• Registration data: the email address and/or phone number you provide to create and access your account.
• Usage and technical data: your IP address, browser and device type, connection information and logs generated while using the service.
• Payment data: payments for the purchase of credits are handled by the payment service provider (Stripe); we do not store the full details of your credit card or other payment instruments.
• Audio and text content of sessions: the audio and text of your interpretation sessions are processed in real time solely for the purpose of providing the requested translation.

3. Purposes and legal basis for processing

We process your personal data for the purposes and on the legal bases set out below:

• Providing the service: to allow you to access and use BabelTalkie; the legal basis is the performance of the contract to which you are a party.
• Managing payments: to process the purchase of credits and issue the related documentation; the legal basis is the performance of the contract and compliance with legal obligations (for example tax and accounting obligations).
• Statistics and service improvement: to analyze usage in aggregate form and improve features; the legal basis is consent, where required, or our legitimate interest.
• Security and abuse prevention: to ensure the security of the platform and prevent unlawful or fraudulent use; the legal basis is our legitimate interest.

4. Processing of voice content

To provide the translation, the audio of your sessions is transmitted to the artificial intelligence providers that perform speech recognition (speech-to-text), translation and voice synthesis (text-to-speech). This processing takes place in real time, only for the time necessary to return the translation. We do not use the content of your conversations to train artificial intelligence models. The retention of voice content is kept to the minimum necessary to provide the service.

5. Providers and third parties (data processors)

To provide the service we rely on external providers that process data on our behalf, as data processors, under specific agreements. These include:

• Google Analytics, for website usage statistics;
• the payment service provider, for managing purchases;
• the artificial intelligence providers for speech recognition, translation and voice synthesis;
• the hosting providers that host the service on cloud infrastructure.

6. Transfers outside the EU

Some of the providers mentioned above may be based or have infrastructure outside the European Union, for example in the United States. In such cases, the transfer of data takes place in compliance with the safeguards provided by the GDPR, in particular through the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission and, where applicable, additional adequate protection measures.

7. Data retention

We retain account data and the data necessary to provide the service for the duration of the contractual relationship and, thereafter, within the limits set by legal obligations (for example accounting and tax obligations). Technical logs are kept for a limited period, consistent with security and diagnostic purposes.

8. Your rights

In relation to the processing of your personal data, you may exercise the rights provided by the GDPR, namely the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, as well as the right to withdraw at any time any consent given, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority (in Lithuania, the Valstybinė duomenų apsaugos inspekcija (Lithuanian State Data Protection Inspectorate)).

9. Security

We adopt appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data from unauthorized access, loss, alteration or disclosure, including encryption of data in transit.

10. Minors

The service is not intended for minors under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data of minors of that age; should we become aware of processing carried out without valid consent, we will delete the relevant data.

11. Changes to this policy

We reserve the right to update this policy at any time, for example to align it with regulatory changes or changes to the service. The updated version will be published on this page, indicating the date of the last update.
